The doors at 250 Donegall Road stay open until 11pm, seven nights a week. That is two hours later than the nine o'clock close at Grosvenor Road and Twin Spires, and it is the difference between a shop you can still catch after a late shift and one you have to plan your evening around. Bakery, deli, Post Office and fuel forecourt are all inside the same building.

Still open when you need it

Weekdays start at six in the morning and run straight through to eleven at night: a seventeen-hour trading day, with no break in the middle of it. Saturdays and Sundays open an hour later, at seven, and close at the same time. The late end of the day never moves, whatever the date.

The other reason to make the trip is how much sits under the one roof. This is the only one of Liam McMahon's stores where an in-store bakery, a staffed deli counter and a Post Office counter are all found together. Add fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat, hot food, a barista bar and fuel on the forecourt, and a list of errands that would otherwise mean three separate stops comes down to one.

Liam McMahon is an independent retailer with four shops in Belfast, this one included. If something is not right, there is a named person answerable for it and a phone number that reaches the store directly on 028 9023 4434.

Counters and departments

Below is what the store actually holds, counter by counter. Individual counters can keep their own hours, so if you are coming specially for the deli or the Post Office, a quick call to 028 9023 4434 will save you a wasted journey.

In store

Barista Bar

The coffee machine is running from the moment the doors open and does not stop until the last hour of the night, which on this road matters more than it sounds.

In store

In-Store Bakery

Baking happens here rather than arriving on a pallet. Bread, baps, pastries and traybakes come out through the day instead of all landing at once in the morning.

In store

Deli Counter

Staffed, not self-service. Cooked meats, cheeses and salads by weight, and sandwiches built while you wait rather than picked out of a chiller.

In store

Hot Food

Breakfast from six, lunch in the middle of the day, and something hot still being served late enough to catch people coming off an evening shift.

02 Finding us

Finding the store

You will find the store at 250 Donegall Road, BT12 5NE, on the side of Belfast that takes in the Village, the Boucher Road commercial area and the ground at Windsor Park, with the Westlink running nearby. Because it is a forecourt site, there is room to pull straight in off the road instead of hunting for a space at the kerb, and filling the car and doing the shop are the same stop. Contactless and Apple Pay are taken at the till, and there is an ATM inside if you would rather have cash in your hand.
